Prayers for times of anxiety

We all experience seasons of anxiety when life pushes us out of our comfort zones and we are facing an uncertain future. I know that many of us are experiencing high levels of uncertainty and anxiety during these troubled times.

Reminding ourselves to rely on God during times like this can help ease our anxiety and help us increase our ability to rest in Him.

The following prayers for use with an Anglican rosary are full of scriptural reminders that God is with us and that we can cast our worries upon Him.

The next time you are facing times of uncertainty and anxiety, try using this set of prayers to calm your spirit and rest in God’s love.

Cross:Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31)
Invitatory bead:The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want;
he makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil;
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff,
they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever. (Psalm 23)
Cruciform beads:Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
Week beads 1-7:When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. (Psalm 56:3)
Invitatory bead:Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:28-30)
Cross:Peace I leave with you;
my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)
Amen.
