In the Gospel of John, Jesus makes seven “I am” statements that describe his identity and role in various illuminating ways. These seven statements are:
- I am the bread of life (John 6:35, 41, 48, and 51)
- I am the light of the world (John 8:12)
- I am the gate (John 10:7-9)
- I am the good shepherd (John 10:11, 14)
- I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25)
- I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6)
- I am the true vine (John 15:1-5)
Each of these statements also give us insight into the ways we can relate to Jesus.
This set of prayers for use with an Anglican rosary are designed to keep us connected to these various ways of connecting with Jesus beyond the typical relationship as our Lord and Savior. Take time to think about how you can embody these ways of relating to Jesus in your life today as you pray.
